- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup eggnog
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 8 slices thickly sliced bread Texas toast, French bread, brioche, challah
- Powdered sugar optional
- Maple syrup optional
- Fresh berries optional
Coat an electric griddle with nonstick cooking spray or butter.
Whisk together all the ingredients through the cinnamon in a shallow dish or pie plate. Lay a piece of bread in the egg mixture, turning it over to coat both sides. Allow the excess to drip off back into dish and then transfer the coated bread to the prepared griddle.
Cook for a couple of minutes on each side or until golden brown and toasted.
Serve with powdered sugar, warm maple syrup, and fresh berries, if desired.
You can also cook the French toast in batches in a skillet on the stove.
To keep batches of French toast warm, preheat your oven to 200 degrees. As the batches cook, transfer the French toast to a rimmed baking sheet and transfer it to the oven until ready to serve.
