Servings: 12 sliders

Ingredients

  • 12 dinner rolls sweet Hawaiian or potato
  • ¾ pound thinly sliced deli ham or leftover ham sliced thin
  • 6 ounces sliced Swiss cheese (6 slices) cut in quarters
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds or as needed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire, Dijon and onion powder in a small bowl and set aside.
  • If the rolls are connected, separate them and cut each roll in half. Place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish. Divide the ham and cheese between the rolls (folding pieces of ham as needed to fit). Cover with the tops. Brush the melted butter mixture over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle evenly with poppy seeds.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil, transfer it to the preheated oven, and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the tops of the rolls are lightly toasted.

Notes

Slider Variation
To bake the sliders without separating the rolls, just slice through the center of the intact sheet of rolls and remove the top half. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish. Layer on the ham and cheese and cover with the top half of the rolls. After baking, transfer the sandwiches to a cutting board and use a knife to slice into individual sliders.
Make-Ahead Instructions
Assemble the Ham and Cheese Sliders up to a day in advance, cover the baking dish with foil, and refrigerate until ready to bake. Remove the sliders from the refrigerator and allow them to rest on the kitchen counter for about 30 minutes before baking. You may need to add a couple of minutes to the cooking time if they are still chilled when going into the oven.
Storage Tips
Transfer leftover sliders to an airtight container or zippered plastic storage bag and refrigerate within two hours. Refrigerated sliders should be consumed within 2 to 3 days. Just reheat them until warmed through in the microwave.
