- 1 tablespoon salted butter softened
- 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
- 1 slice shokupan Japanese milk bread, can use Texas toast or brioche
In a small bowl, combine the butter and dark brown sugar until creamy and combined.
Spread half of the amount evenly over one side of the bread. Place the bread, buttered side down in a nonstick skillet and spread the other side with the remaining butter/sugar mixture.
Set the heat under the skillet to MEDIUM and cook for 3 minutes or until dark brown and caramelized on the bottom side, reducing the heat if needed to prevent it from burning. Flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes to cook the other side.
Transfer the Brown Sugar Toast to a wire rack to cool slightly. It will crisp even more as it rests.
