This is one of those unsuspecting recipes. You might make it and think, okay, snack mix, no big deal. Then people show up at your gathering and one by one begin coming over to you saying “What is in this stuff?” and “I NEED this recipe”.

I came up with this version of snack mix when I found so many recipes included a packet of Ranch dressing mix. Although I’m sure that variety is quite tasty, I was concerned it would be too salty to consume copious amounts, which is pretty much what happens when you start munching on this stuff. Especially if you have a glass of wine or a cocktail in your hand.

Garlic Dill Snack Mix

And, so it came to be. A simply seasoned but entirely delicious Ranch style snack mix without the packet. I also made sure that it didn’t contain a ridiculous amount of butter. I don’t know about you, but we are still recovering from an endless run of indulgent food from Christmas. Oh, the humanity! Someone save me from myself!

In any event, this tasty snack mix won’t make you feel as if you’ve spent all your fat and calorie credits at once.

It starts with a combination of Chex cereal, mini twist pretzels, mixed nuts, and oyster crackers. One of the fun things about this recipe is that you can make it your own by changing up these ingredients with whatever your little heart desires. See the recipe below for some ideas.

Pop it in a preheated 250 degree oven and bake it for about 30 to 35 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes. When the oyster crackers look toasted and light golden brown, it’s time to pull the baking sheet out of the oven.
