I’ve been working on a project for a good part of the year and I’m finally ready to share the exciting news with you today. And, to celebrate, I’m giving away a shiny new Hamilton Beach slow cooker.
You guys! I’m writing a cookbook!
I’ve been waiting to say that since I signed with my publishing company in March. I didn’t want to spill the beans too quickly because the process is a long one and I had to be fully concentrated on the end goal. But, I just finished the recipe development and testing and I’m ready to bring you all along on the ride with me from this point on through to the publication of my book next year.
You may have gathered from the photo above what the subject matter of said cookbook will be and this photo is no joke. Okay, so my kitchen is never this clean when I’m recipe testing but I have had multiple slow cookers going most days for six months and running. I will tell you as much as I can about the book at this point and will fill you in on all of the rest as we go along.
The book will be called The Foolproof Family Slow Cooker and Other One-Pot Solutions. I’ve developed 75 recipes for the book that I am SO proud of and cannot wait to share with you. If you feed a family, have a busy life, and need recipes that appeal to a broad age range, this book is for you.
The majority of the recipes in the book are for the slow cooker but I get that there are those days when even a short 15 minute prep in the morning is just too much so I’m including some really awesome one-pot recipes to boot. They are everything that a one-pot recipe should be – quick, easy, no-stress, and most importantly, delicious!
We are looking at a publication date of September of next year but until then, I say we have some fun.
To get you in the mood to get slow cookin’, I’m giving away the beauty pictured above.
Hamilton Beach has been kind enough to provide one of their 6 Quart Programmable Slow Cookers for me to give away to one of you. This is the model I own and it is one of four slow cookers that has been in nearly constant use for recipe testing purposes for this cookbook. It has been through the wringer and it has come out the other side like a true champ.
In addition to being durable, here are the other reasons I love it so much.
It includes a temperature probe and displays the temperature of the food on the control panel as it cooks. SO useful with large cuts of meat and items like meatloaf or whole chicken.
It is fully programmable, allowing you to cook to a specified time or temperature before switching to the Warm setting.
It includes transport clips so you can clip the lid in place and transport the contents to potlucks and parties.
My 8″ x 4″ loaf pan fits perfectly in the 6 quart ceramic insert which is slightly roomier than the inserts of my other 6 quart cookers. I do a lot of big cuts of meat and big batch recipes which has me reaching for this slow cooker more frequently than the others in my collection.

I want this to be fun and I want to include you in the process so you can count on more giveaways and other fun things to come over the course of the next year. I hope you will follow me on Instagram for some behind the scenes goodies and possibly a sneak peak or two of some of the recipes I’m in the process of photographing.
This book wouldn’t be possible without the support of my readers. I’ve said this all along and I’m going to keep on saying it – you are THE best!

On a fixed budget and can only afford cheaper cuts of meat which a slow cooker compliments by processing slow. A roast early in the morning with Lipton Onion Soup Mix and package of beef gravy mix provides a feature entree that can accompany any side dishes. Hoping to win this and continue to enjoy easy carefree recipes that raves with compliments.
I like to cook meats/roasts, chili, and stews in a slow cooker! Always used in the winter and often in the summer when it’s too hot to cook?
How I would love a new crockpot. Mine is over 20 years old (still working though) and it is great for my husband and me (in our 80s) especially for soups and chili. Will be looking forward to your cookbook. Thanks for all the good and simple recipes.
I love using my slow cookers year round. this year I have been trying more breakfast casserole and bread recipes. Its nice to be able to have several components of a meal in crockpots so the variety is available but the stove isn’t tied up (or the kitchen overheated)
Homemade applesauce sounds good. Would love to try in a new Crockpot. Thanks
Congratulations on the cookbook! Will you be selling from your website? I would like to buy a copy for sure. I would like to win that great crock pot also. Again way to go on the cookbook.
The book will be available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other booksellers. I’ll be providing all of those details once the book is published. Thanks, Lily!
I find your website very interesting and useful. Please count me in the slow cooker giveaway. Thank you.
Would love to have a new crockpot. Would make my life so much easier as I can’t stand for a long period of time to make dinner.
I’m sorry I don’t have a crock pot but I would love to learn some new recipes
Not necessarily a newbie slow cooker user, but have tried a few recipes with some success in the past year. I am always on Facebook and other sites looking for recipes to make in the slow cooker. I admit I’ve got a lot to learn about Cooking times and what spices etc to use. I’m excited about your book. One thing I need guidance on is how to keep recipes warm for potlucks without the bottom burning after a couple of hours at a party. I tried a crock pot bag with a little water between the insert and bag, but somehow my food ended up waterlogged. ?. Maybe the heat melted a hole? Not sure what happened.
Love my crockpot! I use it every week for soups/chowder, making broth, meats, mashed potatoes, baked apples and oatmeal everyday.
Can’t wait to read and try your cookbook.
Congratulations!
I would love a new slow cooker, mine went bad and I loved to cook with it for my father who is disabled and in bad health.
