I’ve been working on a project for a good part of the year and I’m finally ready to share the exciting news with you today. And, to celebrate, I’m giving away a shiny new Hamilton Beach slow cooker.
You guys! I’m writing a cookbook!
I’ve been waiting to say that since I signed with my publishing company in March. I didn’t want to spill the beans too quickly because the process is a long one and I had to be fully concentrated on the end goal. But, I just finished the recipe development and testing and I’m ready to bring you all along on the ride with me from this point on through to the publication of my book next year.
You may have gathered from the photo above what the subject matter of said cookbook will be and this photo is no joke. Okay, so my kitchen is never this clean when I’m recipe testing but I have had multiple slow cookers going most days for six months and running. I will tell you as much as I can about the book at this point and will fill you in on all of the rest as we go along.
The book will be called The Foolproof Family Slow Cooker and Other One-Pot Solutions. I’ve developed 75 recipes for the book that I am SO proud of and cannot wait to share with you. If you feed a family, have a busy life, and need recipes that appeal to a broad age range, this book is for you.
The majority of the recipes in the book are for the slow cooker but I get that there are those days when even a short 15 minute prep in the morning is just too much so I’m including some really awesome one-pot recipes to boot. They are everything that a one-pot recipe should be – quick, easy, no-stress, and most importantly, delicious!
We are looking at a publication date of September of next year but until then, I say we have some fun.
To get you in the mood to get slow cookin’, I’m giving away the beauty pictured above.
Hamilton Beach has been kind enough to provide one of their 6 Quart Programmable Slow Cookers for me to give away to one of you. This is the model I own and it is one of four slow cookers that has been in nearly constant use for recipe testing purposes for this cookbook. It has been through the wringer and it has come out the other side like a true champ.
In addition to being durable, here are the other reasons I love it so much.
It includes a temperature probe and displays the temperature of the food on the control panel as it cooks. SO useful with large cuts of meat and items like meatloaf or whole chicken.
It is fully programmable, allowing you to cook to a specified time or temperature before switching to the Warm setting.
It includes transport clips so you can clip the lid in place and transport the contents to potlucks and parties.
My 8″ x 4″ loaf pan fits perfectly in the 6 quart ceramic insert which is slightly roomier than the inserts of my other 6 quart cookers. I do a lot of big cuts of meat and big batch recipes which has me reaching for this slow cooker more frequently than the others in my collection.

I want this to be fun and I want to include you in the process so you can count on more giveaways and other fun things to come over the course of the next year. I hope you will follow me on Instagram for some behind the scenes goodies and possibly a sneak peak or two of some of the recipes I’m in the process of photographing.
This book wouldn’t be possible without the support of my readers. I’ve said this all along and I’m going to keep on saying it – you are THE best!

Considering my age, I should be an experienced slow cooker cook. But, alas I am not. I do have pot roast down to a science, though. Looking forward to your new cookbook! 😉
I have never made a successful anything in a crockpot. Is there hope for me? I’d love to try again. Maybe I just had the wrong equipment .. or the wrong recipes?
I like to make a wide variety of things, but especially like soups and stews of all different types.
Good luck with your cookbook— such happy news!
Congratulations on your cookbook! I love using my crock pot to make beef/pork roasts, corned beef and cabbage, Mexican casserole, chile Colorado beef, stews, and my 3 meat spaghetti sauce.
What is more convenient than a slow cooker? Doesn’t matter if you are a working person or retiree, they are time savers. I love most slow cooker recipes, and would be interesting in previewing your new cookbook. I love and read your recipes as you post them
I love trying new recipes in my crockpot. We are a busy family during the week with my daughters dance. I like to have dinner done when we get home from work or dance.
I love cooking in my crockpot but it is quite old and it is time to update so making your yummy recipes will be so much easier. Congratulations on your upcoming cookbook, I’m looking forward to it!
