If you are at a loss for what to buy for the special moms in your life this Mother’s Day, I hope this selection of my favorites will provide the gift giving inspiration you need! This is the first in a new series on Valerie’s Kitchen where I’ll be sharing items that I own and treasure as well as a few items from my wish list.
My husband has a knack for buying me sweet, memorable gifts that are just so specific to me it always warms my heart. One of the most memorable gifts I’ve ever received is a small Meyer lemon tree in a cute pot he gave to me on Mother’s Day years ago. That tree sits out in our backyard within my line of sight as I sit typing this now. So, cost is totally unimportant. A thoughtful gift that is specific to your recipient will be the one she will remember.
All of the opinions expressed here are 100% my own and I purchased the products myself, as indicated. If you make a purchase after clicking through on one of the affiliate links contained in this post, Valerie’s Kitchen will earn a small commission. This will in no way affect the purchase price of the product. Now, let’s get shopping!
Kitchen and Home:
Embroidered Natural Floral Apron – Sur La Table has the cutest aprons and they’re all on sale right now for Mother’s Day. So cute I think I’d want to keep them on even after I was done cooking.
Nordic Ware Gold Anniversary Bundt® Pan – I have this pan in a pretty teal color and I think this gold is nice too. Love the handles and the sturdy Nordic Ware design. My bundts pop right out of this pan so easily. Love it!
“Be You Tiful” Mug – I saw this while out shopping and thought it was adorable. It might be even more adorable with a gift card or special note tucked inside. And, if that note happens to say you’re cooking dinner tonight, even better!
Le Creuset Rose Heart Casserole with Gold Knob – It’s shaped like a heart and it’s pink. Need I say more? I don’t own this piece but I am a lifelong lover of this brand. My Mom bought me a full set when I got married and they are still my favorite pans.
Yes Way Rose Glass – Okay, I put this one here for me. LOVE! WANT!
Staub Heritage All Day Pan with Domed Glass Lid – As a food blogger I need more pans than the average cook and I’ve been seriously lusting after Staub pans for years. I’ve got so many Le Creuset pans that are similar in design that I couldn’t really justify the purchase I saw this smokin’ deal at Sur La Table this weekend. It is the perfect size for one-pot meals and I just love the peek-through glass lid. It was such a great deal I got it both in the deep blue and the light grey graphite.
EZOWare Foldable Canvas Fabric Tweed Storage Cube Bin Set With Handles [3-Pack] – I just got these last week and they are so nice. They are the perfect size for books, magazines, and a variety of other items. The two-tone tweed fabric looks really nice with my living room furniture and two of them fit perfectly side-by-side on the shelf under our side table.
Instant Pot DUO60 6 Quart – The Instant Pot is the hottest appliance trend in years. If she cooks and she doesn’t have one yet, chances are she’d love this gift.
Power Air Fryer XL 3.4 Quart – I’ve tried telling myself I have too many appliances already (hello Instant Pot, I’m looking at you!) but I’m starting to want one. Love the concept of frying with almost no oil.
Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker Set & Forget – Even if she already owns a slow cooker you can help her up her slow cooker game with this unit. It has a temperature probe, sealing lid and transport clips for travel.
Josie Maran Argan Sugar Balm Body Scrub – A luxuriously moisturizing body scrub with a subtle, natural fragrance. A great choice!
Kiehls Creme de Corps – A rich, luxurious moisturizer that is great for super dry skin. Kiehls products are fragrance free and easy on sensitive skin.
Marc Jacobs Daisy – I want to bathe in a tub of Marc Jacobs Daisy. This has been my scent for over five years now and I haven’t found anything I like better. Simple, fresh, floral, clean. My husband is sensitive to heavy, synthetic scents and loves this on me. I layer it with the body lotion to keep the scent going through the day.
L’Occitane 3-Piece Hand Cream Collectibles – I like to keep a tube of this hand cream in my office so I can reapply through the day. Lovely scents and high quality like all of the L’Occitane products.
L’Occitane Cleansing And Softening Shower Oil With Almond Oil – If you pass a L’Occitane counter while shopping, just open a bottle and smell this stuff. Heavenly. It’s a light, easy scent that I think is universally appealing and I’m betting the guys might even start reaching for it. It turns into a light lather on contact with water and leaves your skin silky smooth.
Sunday Riley Blue Moon Clean-Rinse Cleansing Balm – I will cry if Sunday Riley discontinues this product. I’m hooked. The name “Cleansing Balm” is a bit misleading because it has a fine, granular consistency and at the same time it is incredibly moisturizing. I thought I’d use this once or twice a week when I purchased it and I’m using it daily. It provides super gentle exfoliation for my sensitive skin, rinses clean, and my face literally feels as soft as baby skin after washing.
Fun and Fashion:
Sugarfina Rose 3-Piece Candy Bento Box – I included Sugarfina candies in the gift bags for my boys’ girlfriends this Christmas and they loved them. Sweet, girly candy in all kinds of shapes and flavors, available in cute bento-style boxes. Perfect for gift giving.
Anthropologie Sketched Songbird Iphone 6/6S/7/8 Case – We’re on our phones so much we might as well make them as pretty as possible. I believe Anthropologie stuff is universally loved by all women.
Women’s Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Lite Circle Cardigan – A cute, comfy sweater in the Barefoot Dreams collection. I randomly came across this brand while browsing at Nordstrom and later came to find out that it was on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. All of the products in this line are made from an outstanding substance that I’ve decided I have to have in my life from this point forward. It’s soft, cushy, and silky all at the same time. You won’t believe it until you touch it.I could live in it.
Women’s Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Socks – Magically cozy socks from Barefoot Dreams.
The Magic Bag – I found out about the Magic Bag from my Pilates instructor when I showed up with an injured back one day. She ran and grabbed this strange bean bag, popped it in the microwave for a bit and told me to lie on it for about 5 minutes or so. Aaahhh…. It works wonders on sore, aching muscles or you can place it in the freezer to chill to have ready to soothe those little bumps kids seem to get all the time. I bought one for each of my boys at Christmas.
Letters to Me When I Grow Up – An awesome choice for new moms! There are twelve letters included in this keepsake book to prompt kids to share stories, draw, or make lists reflecting on what they know now, and what they imagine for their future. It becomes a paper time capsule that will be so fun for them to read over and over again when they are older.
Power Banks RAVPower Phone Battery/External Battery Pack – My son ordered one of these for me and it has been so useful. It fully charges your iPhone or iPad without the need for an electrical outlet. A lifesaver both at home and on the road. Check for compatibility with your particular devices.
Thunder Shirt Classic Dog Anxiety Jacket – I had to include a little something for the pups. Our rescue pup, Lexie, has a few triggers that will set her off into a nervous state and we’ve found the Thunder Shirt to be very effective at calming both her and Bridget from time to time. If you’ve got a mom in your life with a pup that has separation anxiety or other general nervousness, she might love this as a gift.
Hi, I’m Valerie and I am a cookbook addict. Seriously. I think we have a problem here, folks. Those storage containers I mentioned above… they are filled with cookbooks. Here are some that I think any mom would love.
Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering by Joanna Gaines – If the mom you’re buying for is a Chip and Joanna fan (who isn’t?) then she’s going to love this book. In addition to being filled with delectable recipes it’s a really pretty book that she will want to leave out on the coffee table. A great gift choice.
Cooking for Jeffrey: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook by Ina Garten – All of Ina’s books are great. You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat by Chrissy Teigan – I didn’t expect to like this book because, I mean, Chrissy Teigan just basically has it all. Does she have to cook too? Well, yes, she does and she does it well. There are some really solid recipes in this book and she makes it fun. Let’s be friends, Chrissy.
America’s Test Kitchen – The Complete Slow Cooker: From Appetizers to Desserts – 400 Must-Have Recipes That Cook While You Play (or Work) – The longest cookbook title ever from the folks at ATK. A fantastic resource for the slow cooker cook.
The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Come and Get It!: Simple, Scrumptious Recipes for Crazy Busy Lives – Ree’s books are colorful and fun and her recipes are solid and easy to follow. Busy family cooking.
The Weeknight Dinner Cookbook: Simple Family-Friendly Recipes for Everyday Home Cooking by Mary Younkin – This book is filled with recipes you will want to make more than once for your family. This is Mary’s first cookbook and she’s published a follow-up book featuring family-friendly breakfast and lunch ideas (you can read my review here). They are both great gift ideas!
The Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Easy Recipes for Fast & Healthy Meals – The best seller is a good starting point for new Instant Pot cooks.
Betty Crocker Lost Recipes: Beloved Vintage Recipes for Today’s Kitchen – I’m a sucker for vintage recipes and like many, Betty Crocker’s Cookbook was the one I set out on my own with when I was 19 years old. This is a walk down memory lane and could be a good choice for lovers of vintage Betty.
