My smoothie cravings are very specific. I don’t crave the icy, brain freeze inducing variety but rather those with a creamy, milkshake consistency. Although seemingly indulgent, you can use wholesome ingredients to create that creaminess without adding an excessive amount of calories.

The absolute best smoothies, in my humble opinion, are made with frozen fruit so I like to have lots of different varieties in my freezer so we can whip up smoothies anytime we feel like it. You can use store bought frozen fruit like I did when I made my Good Morning Sunshine Smoothie, or you can check out the instructions on how to flash freeze all kinds of in-season berries and fresh fruits yourself. Smoothies are a big part of my motivation to freeze stuff.

The flavor and consistency of this Creamy Strawberry Peach Smoothie makes it exceptionally kid-friendly. If your kids are old enough to operate a blender, this smoothie is a wholesome breakfast or after school snack they can make for themselves.

Ingredient Notes

The ingredients for making Strawberry Peach Smoothies with text overlay.
  • Frozen strawberries and peaches – Starting with frozen fruit ensures a thicker, creamier result. This recipe is based on what I had in my freezer at the moment but you can substitute a variety of fruits or berries for the peaches and strawberries if you’d like. Whatever fruit you’ve got on hand or whatever strikes your fancy at the store is going to be great. Check out my instructions on How to Flash Freeze if you want to make the most on in-season fruits and berries.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – It adds that luxurious creaminess that is oh, so important. Greek yogurt is high in protein and calcium, and the texture of the stuff is just amazing. I always use nonfat but you can use 2% or full fat, if desired.
  • Milk – I use regular 2% milk but I’ve also used nondairy milk including almond milk and a coconut/almond milk blend. All will result in a slightly different flavor and all are delicious! I especially like the slight hint of coconut from the coconut milk blends.
  • Honey – A small amount of honey is all you need to add a little sweetness.

When my youngest was a high school athlete, he craved smoothies daily. If you keep your freezer stocked with fruit, it’s easy for your school age kids to whip these Creamy Strawberry Smoothies up for themselves anytime of day or night.

Here’s proof! This is Adam making Creamy Strawberry Peach Smoothies in our old house back in 2013. You can see that creamy, milkshake consistency I was referring to. I especially love the shot on the right because if you look carefully, you can see his brother, Connor, in the background. He was working at the stove on one of his special omelets. Two boys in the kitchen at once. My job is done! Almost.
