For those of you new to the green smoothie movement, they’re kind of a big deal and for good reason. If I can convince you to try one recipe this month, I hope it’s this one. In addition to being good for you, they are SO tasty. I’ve been waking up craving one on a daily basis since I started making them.

I know many would say “Ah, no thanks“. I gotcha. But, if you were here with me right now and I put this sweet, tropical tasting concoction in your hand, you’d be blown away.

You’ve heard me praise the merits of non-fat plain Greek yogurt before (here she goes again) and I’m still in the throes of love with the stuff. One of it’s many benefits is that it contains twice the protein of regular yogurt. More protein means you’ll feel full longer, making this smoothie a seriously satisfying meal in itself. It’s also packed with calcium and since I’m NOT a milk drinker, this is a big plus for me. The mango, pineapple, and spinach are jam packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. This smoothie is one of my favorite ways to get one full serving of both fruits and veggies in my belly before I even leave the house.

Everything goes in the blender – Non-fat plain greek yogurt, frozen mango and pineapple chunks, some milk (I use 2% but whatever you have on hand will work).

Don’t fear the spinach! It doesn’t add any graininess or odd taste – just lots of nutrition.

Honey is my sweetener of choice for smoothies. Love that cute little bear.

If you’ve got kids who grimace at anything green, tell them it’s a super cool Shrek Shake, or maybe Kermit, or Ninja Turtle, or,…well, you get the point. One taste and they won’t care what you call it. It’s easy being green!
