I may have mentioned this more than a few times but I have a special relationship with coffee. Being the mother of four boys… well, need I say more? I actually consider myself a bit of a pro at this stage in life. I have the Starbucks app on my phone that allows you to pay by just passing it in front of their little scanner. Bloop. Thank you very much. Anything that speeds up the process of getting a cup of coffee in my hand is alright by me.

Butterscotch Caramel Frappuchino-073

Popping in to a Starbucks on our way to early morning water polo tournaments to grab a hot cup of java for the road was part of our family’s routine  And just as frequently, we would take a break from the pool deck on hot summer days to make a Starbucks run for an icy, cold beverage. Starbucks also became THE place to meet my girlfriends for coffee on those precious days when we could find an hour for one another. It is unbelievable how fast an hour passes over coffee and catching up.

Typically I’m a grande non-fat latte kind of girl but every now and then, especially in the warmer months, the iced drinks start calling my name. Starbucks is making it easy for us to create all kinds of coffee beverages at home with their new Starbucks Iced Coffee – Brewed to Personalize, available in Unsweetened, Lightly Sweetened, and Caramel. Check the refrigerated juice or dairy section of your store to find the 48 ounce multi-serve bottles.

When I saw the Caramel flavor it was on! I couldn’t help but take a swig of it straight, without any add-ins, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it is not overly sweet, making it perfect as a recipe base for all kinds of the creative concoctions. It is also delicious just simply poured over ice for a quick afternoon pick-me-up.

With just a few ingredients and my trusty blender I had this icy, creamy, butterscotch and caramel goodness in my hand in less than five minutes.

I am a fan of starbucks also and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve had 2 PSL’s already this year. I only will drink the hot PSL, but for their iced drinks – especially their frappes, I love to treat myself on my lunch break to one. I also use the app and I love the free drink I get after every 12 I buy. 🙂
