Monday, I’ll be boarding a plane and heading to Seattle for a video shoot. Three ladies that I’ve known for quite some time online through the Allrecipes website and the Allstars/Brand Ambassador Program will be joining me. We each represent a different region of the country and we’ll be meeeting for the first time in person to cook together using the brand new McCormick Gourmet Recipe Mixes. I’m just a little bit excited about all this. Well, actually, I’m bursting at the seams…let’s get this show on the road…mad…crazy, excited! There, that’s more like it.
I’ve been involved with Allrecipes for years and, well, I love it. You can’t do an online search for a recipe without getting links to this site. It is a huge, comprehensive, library of great recipes submitted by home cooks across the country. Along with these recipes you will find invaluable tips and honest opinions from experienced cooks who have made and reviewed the recipes. There is something about this site that makes people want to share their wisdom and that is what sets it apart from all the others. Once you learn how to use the site, you really begin to see that there’s gold in them thar hills!
I could write volumes on all the different features of Allrecipes but you need to just check it out yourself. You can find me here. The recipe box feature alone was enough to suck me in back in 2004 and since then my relationship with Allrecipes has grown beyond anything I would have ever believed possible. About a year and a half ago, they sent a film crew to San Jose, and into my kitchen, to film a cooking segment (watch it here) for their What’s Cooking web series. I was certain this would be my first and last experience like this but lo and behold, I’m off to Seattle for the McCormick video shoot. I honestly thought it might all be an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank but I think it’s a go!
And, McCormick, well my relationship with them has been life long. I’ve been a fan of this brand forever. It was always in my mom’s kitchen and it has continued to be my brand of choice to this day.
I can’t wait to meet live and in person, the great people that make up Allrecipes and to get cookin’ with my fellow Spice Girls. It’s time to end this long distance relationship! Stay tuned for a complete recap of the events that will unfold as four moms from across the country gather in Seattle to meet in person and cook together as the cameras roll.
Just act natural, like the camera isn’t there, right? Yeah right!
That is awesome! I love the video – I would have been so nervous. Have a safe trip and take lots of pictures!!
congratulations Valerie! This is awesome! I hope you’re having fun right now because I’m a little late coming in. Can’t wait to hear about the experience!
WOW! Congratulations Val! This is such a fantastic opportunity. 🙂
Val, this is so awesome. I’m excited for you.
Wow that is so exciting!!! Have so much fun!
YAY!! Congrats, that is SO exciting! I love All Recipes, I really feel like that was how I learned to cook. I spent the first two years of adult life cooking recipes from that site. The comments and reviews were always so helpful to me, I feel like I owe my cooking skills to All Recipes!
Have a great time! I love Seattle, great food town. I actually am in the process of a move up there in the next few months (my family and husbands family lives there).
Seattle really is great Jackie. We are really enjoying our time here and the restaurants are incredible! Thanks for sharing your experience with Allrecipes. You sure learned well by the look of your recipes!
Awesome! Have a great time!!
We’re having a blast Dana. Thanks!
Allrecipes and McCormick…two things I can’t do without.
Congratulations, Valerie!
What a fabulous opportunity, Valerie – congratulations!! You’ll do so great, I just know it! And oh my gosh, I love AllRecipes. It’s my bible.
Thank you Georgia!
Congratulations, Valerie! That sounds like such a cool experience. I love allrecipes.com, primarily for all of the user feedback in the comments. Great recipes, plus tips and advice from people who have tried them – brilliant!
Hope you have a wonderful time in Seattle! I can’t wait to see your finished video. 🙂
Thanks Willow. It will be fun to share all of this when I get home. I’ve had my camera in pretty much everyone’s face 🙂
