Ball Canning is back with the latest (and last!) addition to their series of Heritage Collection mason jars, and my friends…they’re purple! I’m pretty excited about the color choice but I’m even more excited that they have generously offered to provide some of these beautiful, vintage-inspired jars to two lucky winners.
I’ve had these beauties in my possession for about a week now and I’ve been gazing adoringly at them ever since they arrived at my doorstep. The color is a dark but translucent purple and has a very vintage feel. It reminds me of the cellophane the Easter Bunny used to wrap my Easter baskets in waaayyy back in time. It’s for that reason I decided to fill them with an assortment of Spring flowers and it is truly a match made in heaven. They would be gorgeous as a table centerpiece any time of year but especially for backyard parties. They would also be a fabulous, inexpensive DIY table decoration for an outdoor wedding.
These limited edition jars are the last in a 3 year series to celebrate the 100th anniversary of a special series of jars from the Ball brothers.
The original vintage series started in 1913 with the launch of the “PERFECT MASON” jar followed in 1914 by the “PERFECTION” jar. These jars were commemorated in 2013 and 2014 by the blue and green Heritage Collection jars above. Which do you like better? I refuse to choose!
The final jar in the original series, “IMPROVED”, came in 1915 and is the inspiration for the 2015 addition to the Heritage Collection. It features a period-inspired purple color and embossed logos on the front and back. They are available for sale online at Ball’s Fresh Preserving Store in both the regular mouth pint and wide mouth quart size.
I LOVE all the colors in this series so much and continue to find more and more ways to use them. They’re beautiful filled with a frosty beverage or your morning smoothie. They make your canned and preserved goods perfect for gift giving. They’re a great choice for storing pantry items like nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruits, and granola. I’ve used them for mason jar salads for lunch on the go and the clever, crafty, decorating possibilities are endless as you may have witnessed if you’ve been anywhere near Pinterest lately. Be sure to check out my Mason Jar Madness board for tons of great ideas.
